![]() I was very happy that it was not just the “he has problems at school, and he isn’t a lucky person” type of illustration and novel. It was a great story in the format of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, but it was completely different and original. ![]() In a comical, humorous story, Pastis kicks off Timmy’s adventures in a lovable book. ![]() So Timmy is off to find the segway, ALL while keeping it a secret from his mom. Timmy hates her she also runs a Detective Agency that is sort of competition, and since her dad has a lot of money, her Agency has its’ home in a fancy building. He uses his mom’s segway to get from case to case, but one day that segway gets stolen by the Evil One: Corrina Corrina. ![]() He takes all sorts of cases, and charges 5 cents a day, hoping that it will all add up one day so he can become rich – he already has his eye on a place in town. Regardless of whether they have any larger meaning, Hemingway's use of the same image at the beginning and end of the book – not just pine needles, but Robert Jordan lying on them – gives the novel nice bookends, and a nifty little sense of circularity. It's really up to you how much you want to read into the pine needles. (43.402) You also get frequent mention of them whenever Robert Jordan is in his sleeping robe at night (usually before Maria comes to join him), and occasionally at other times too, as when he feels them under his feet as he walks to the bridge on the morning of the mission (41.79).
